Unit prices are the figures published per destination, not a recalculation. Volumes and values are published rounded, so dividing a published value by a published volume can differ from the published unit price by about 2%.

How concentrated is green tea in the top markets?

Extremely. Green tea was 88.11% of China's total export volume in 2025, but in the largest African destinations it is effectively the only category: 99.85% of shipments to Morocco, 99.92% to Ghana and 100% to Mauritania. That concentration is why those markets are priced on grade consistency rather than on category choice.

Which categories does China export, and at what price?

Green tea was 88.11% of China's 2025 tea export volume and the lowest-priced category, at USD 3,368.2 per tonne. Black tea averaged USD 5,258 per tonne after a 24.3% fall, and the specialty categories — oolong, jasmine, white, dark and other teas — USD 6,981.9. The shift in mix towards green tea, together with black tea's price fall, is why the all-tea average fell 2.7% while green tea's own average rose 1.7%.

What are the three findings worth quoting?

One: China's tea export volume rose 11.9% while its average unit price fell 2.7% — the mix shifted towards green tea and black tea's average price fell 24.3%, while green tea's own price rose 1.7%. Two: among the ten largest markets, Côte d'Ivoire grew fastest (+300.4% by volume) and prices ran from about USD 2,105.9 per tonne for Uzbekistan to about USD 21,175.5 for Malaysia. Three: specialty teas averaged USD 6,981.9 per tonne against USD 3,368.2 for green tea, so category choice moves margin further than negotiation does.
